I had a new client this week for a distance healing who said she had lots of different experiences and impressions through the session including large movements of her eyelids. We call this a ‘register’ that the practitioner can often see when we do a session in person.
Today was my clients second session and I reminded them that each session can be very different, the second may be the same or may be very different. All they need to do is be the observer and notice, without expecting it to be a certain way.

A memory of fire walking came up for me. The first fire walk I did was exhilarating as part of a live in personal development training course over several days. We sat in a pit of snakes with our eyes closed, yes horrid but I got through it, a couple did get bitten when they didn’t follow the one instruction given which was “don’t move”. We climbed up a tree very high and walked along a rope, of course with safety equipment on. I failed at this one, I could not get up one step, but that’s OK. The fire walk I loved and felt a sense of power afterwards, like I was invincible.
Years later I went to an event with Tony Robbins and did my second fire walk. They asked who was doing it for the second time and watched us closely. Unlike the first time, I felt the heat of the fire and instead of the mantra of ‘cool moss’ started a new one which is unrepeatable. My feet were soothed in the cold water at the end as we were informed that often in the second fire walk your feet may burn. Reason is that you think you are so good and prepared because the first one went well, that you are not as focussed as you need to be – it does take 100% focus. It was a huge lesson to learn on not taking anything for granted.
After that I worked with Tony Robbins every year when they came to Australia to help specifically with the fire walk. I just loved it.
Should I tell you a secret?
What fire walk participants NEVER REALIZE is how many people are helping with each walk. There is an entire team to make sure you are safe, but you are so focussed on facing what may be your biggest fear, you really only see the fire and the light at the end. That’s where you need to get to.
There are people at the start holding you back, with arms in front of you, so that you do not take off before the instructor says you are prepared and ready. When the go is given you take off, thinking you are alone in what may be 12 steps through VERY HOT coals. And yes, they are hot and you can burn your feet if you are not prepared for this.
Actually, and this is my favourite position, there are ‘angels’ lined up on both sides of the fire, arms outstretched almost touching each other and wearing tough fire-proof boots. If you fall or trip they are there to grab you fast and lift you off the coals. I don’t know of anybody who has ever noticed the ‘angels’ along side when they are stomping to the end. But they are there to help you, you are never alone, their job is to keep you safe.
At the end are some very strong people (the large islander boys usually get this role) to stop you, restrain you, hold you, while they tell you to STOP. Others are on the ground with hoses to cool your feet and wash any hot coals that MIGHT get stuck between your toes.
When given the all clear they move you on to a crowd who stands at the end to celebrate with you, and to make sure you are OK. After all that preparation and adrenalin, it takes quite a bit to come down to earth again and to realize what you actually just did.
None of this has anything to do with Reconnective Healing, a session does not take all the preparation and team to help you…… but then again maybe it does. Maybe when you come in for a session you HAVE been prepared, your team might have got you ready and have said, yes, clear to go?
Something to think about.

My point though was about the second session of healing, it can be different to the first, it might be the same, but each session can be so different that it is good to not expect anything, but to be ready for everything.
***We do recommend 1, 2 or 3 sessions either on consecutive days or up to about 7 days in between each session, so one session each week.
If you have a wonderful healing you can come back any time that you feel you need it, and again we recommend 1, 2 or 3 sessions each time.
